Description A Victorian oil painting by C.W. Cope (1811-1890) depicting the death of Princess Elizabeth (daughter of King Charles I), with Prince Henry and a guard. Princess Elizabeth died on 8 September 1650 aged 14 at Carisbrooke Castle, after being brought there as a prisoner in August. The painting contains symbolic imagery.
